MOC (Management of Change)
SUPERINTENDENT MOC entries record changes to vessel structure, machinery, or operating parameters that require formal review before implementation. When to raise an MOC
- Replacing a piece of equipment with a non-identical alternative
- Changing operating parameters (e.g. raising a cooling-water temperature setpoint)
- Bypassing a safety system, even temporarily
- Software updates that change PMS-tracked behavior
Workflow
- Vessel → MOC tab → New MOC
- Fill the form — what is changing, why, what risks, what controls
- Submit — supervisor reviews; high-impact changes need administrator approval as well
- After approval, the MOC links to any affected components (their cards show an MOC chip until the MOC is closed)
- Close the MOC after the change is verified in service
