MOC (Management of Change)

SUPERINTENDENT MOC entries record changes to vessel structure, machinery, or operating parameters that require formal review before implementation.

When to raise an MOC

  • Replacing a piece of equipment with a non-identical alternative
  • Changing operating parameters (e.g. raising a cooling-water temperature setpoint)
  • Bypassing a safety system, even temporarily
  • Software updates that change PMS-tracked behavior

Workflow

  1. Vessel → MOC tab → New MOC
  2. Fill the form — what is changing, why, what risks, what controls
  3. Submit — supervisor reviews; high-impact changes need administrator approval as well
  4. After approval, the MOC links to any affected components (their cards show an MOC chip until the MOC is closed)
  5. Close the MOC after the change is verified in service
